I know a lot of you are bummed out around here with either Rev. Wright woes (soon to pass) or financial woes. But I want to transport you to just a few weeks ago when the world changed for the better. Right after Super Tuesday...
When the story of the 2008 Democratic Nomination is written one part of that story that will stand out will be the 11 days in February when Senator Obama's campaign crushed Hillary Clinton. Up until then the first 29 contests were basically a delegate draw.
February 9-February 19:
LA, NE, WA, VIslands, ME, DC, MD, VI, DAbroad, HI, WI
Obama sweeps 11 in a row!
Final score: Obama 292 del. (64%)
Clinton 164 del. (36%)
In a race where Obama has won 53% of the pledged delegates
to Clinton's 47%, the 11 contests in 11 days netted Obama a 128 delegate advantage while racking up a whopping 28% winning margin. Hillary Clinton has yet to prove she can win more than a 12 point margin. That is why the current 169 delegate advantage is HUGE. That is why Barack Obama will be the 44th President of the United States.
We knew he'd do well in those 11 contests but it was essentially a knock-out blow. How did it happen? Was it her campaign's arrogance and ineptness? Was it money? Was it that once Obama proved he could hold his own on Super Tuesday
voters were ready to embrace him en masse? How did he do it?
