Stop the Democrats $1.2 Trillion tax hike - Contribute Today
Dear Republican Supporter,
Last week NRSC Executive Director Scott Bensing contacted you regarding the latest Democrat budget -- and its real costs on American families. I've written before about the costs of a Democrat Senate majority and many of our supporters have responded with outrage over the direction the Democrats are trying to take our country. And they have a good reason to feel this way.
The Democrats are proposing to increase discretionary spending in Washington to more than $1 trillion. They plan to cover the costs of this new spending with another first in history -- a $1.2 trillion tax hike.
We must stop the Democrats!
more below the fold...
These numbers are staggering, irresponsible and if a Democrat President ever signed this budget our economy would be crippled! What is equally troubling is that too many voters remain unaware of what is occurring here in Washington because the media isn't reporting it.
Take a look around you -- individuals, families and small businesses are struggling with skyrocketing gasoline prices, falling home values, rising tuition costs and increased health care costs. The last thing our economy needs is a record tax hike to pay for more wasteful, Washington spending.
We need your help to stop the effects of the Democrats' reckless tax-and-spend ways. Please make a contribution of at least $25 today to send a message that we will not accept the course that the Democrats are trying to lead us on.
Will you make your opposition to the Democrats' budget heard by making a contribution today?
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely yours,
John Ensign

P.S. The figures from the new Democrat budget are below and you can clearly see what we've been saying all along: America cannot afford a Democrat Senate majority.
* Largest Tax Increase in History! Over $1.2 trillion
o 43 million families with children will pay $2,300 more each year.
o 18 million seniors will pay $2,200 more.
o 27 million small businesses will pay $4,100 more.
o 8 million low-income workers will be added back to tax rolls

Who's the spender? Let's see, monthly cost of Iraq war? A staggering $12 Billion!!
Oh, and are the tax hikes really tax hikes?
The Senate budget projects 2008-2012 tax revenues of $15,007 billion—$899 billion higher than the $14,108 that would be collected under today's tax rates. The Senate Budget Committee does not specify the source of these higher revenues. However, the total almost exactly matches the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimate of 2008-2012 tax revenues if the Bush tax cuts expire, all other temporary tax cuts expire, and the alternative minimum tax (AMT) is not fixed ($15,002 billion).[1]
And that is from one of their mouthpieces!
Poor Johnny Wannee - are you rich people going to have to start paying your share of taxes? Well, you should be able to afford it, since you and your kind are so mucher richer these days!
Let's see what Bloomberg has to say about it:
Democrats' Budget Will Stimulate Economy, Conrad Says (Update1)
By Alison Vekshin
March 15 (Bloomberg) -- The $3 trillion budget plan Congress approved this week will stimulate the economy, create jobs and offer tax relief to the middle class, Senator Kent Conrad said today.
...
``With so many Americans hurting, we cannot afford to take the president's wait-and-see approach any longer,'' Conrad said. ``It is time to act. The Democratic budget does just that.''
...
The version the Senate approved yesterday includes a nonbinding amendment calling for the extension of some of Bush's tax cuts that are set to expire in the coming years. The House plan doesn't.
The House approved a plan on March 13 that calls for raising some taxes, revising Medicare and spending $25 billion more than Bush wants on domestic programs.
``Despite inheriting record surpluses, President Bush has driven our country into a fiscal ditch,'' Conrad said. ``Our budget will begin to dig us back out.''
Wow, a whole $25 billion more (in the total budget?) than Bush wanted on domestic programs, and the war is $12 billion a month... go figure.
How 'bout Bush and Co. just stop their reckless steal-and-spend ways. This just makes me sick.
