Daily Kos has become a joke, even on the national news, as a result of immature Obama supporters using hide ratings / troll rating in order to "dissapear" comments by Clinton supporters, thread jacking, and other behavior more commonly associated with a 6 year old child than with adults.
I'm well aware that Markos also dislikes Clinton, and prefers Obama, but one would expect more from the site's founder than allowing this type of behavior. I was extremely disappointing to see his flip comments about HRC supporters "striking" and leaving the blog instead of continuing to put up with this abuse.
The FAQ is very clear on the proper and improper use of troll ratings / hide ratings, that thread jacking and the like are not acceptable. But apparently Markos is not mature enough to enforce these rules if they can be used effectively against Hillary Clinton supporters to silence their voices.
It's a sad day indeed. I highly doubt any further conferences held by the Daily Kos will attract the same spectrum of progressive political candidates as previous conferences have; and the poor publicity the site has received does not speak well of it either. Markos is unwisely turning the site into just another type of freeperville, and its influence will be rightly diminished as a result.
I do not understand the logic of literally pissing away half of our party's political base. I will not forget what I have seen here over the past few months. He has proved to be a dishonest broker during the primary season. We see poll after poll that shows that we are splitting our own party down the middle, and it is unlikely, with the behavior we see here, that we will unify come November.
I am definitely one that has been turned off the democratic party for the first time in 30 years of voting, in large part, due to the behavior of Obama supporters. I have, by reflex, voted a democratic party ticket since the day I started voting. But this election season has taught me that democratic values are not what I thought they were. Many of our supporters are zealots whose behavior is as bad as any freeper I have ever seen. I simply cannot believe that Obama is the man he claims to be -- a unifier - when so many really, really, unpleasant and immature people support him. Real democrats don't try to censor the views of other democrats, real democrats believe in honest and rational and factual debate.
Obama supporters are not the people I have worked side by side with for over 20 years of involvement in helping to elect democrats, and they are not the kind of people that share my values.
While each one of you who are not grown up enough to be able to handle viewpoints that do not match your own are partially to blame for the fact that 25-30% of democrats will not vote for Obama in November should he win the nomination, it is Markos' job to ensure that the rules of this site are enforced, and that all viewpoints of democratic party supporters have an equal chance of being heard. It is apparent that he is not mature enough to handle that responsibility.
