I am a South Floridian in Rep. Wasserman Schultz's district. I have been a proud supporter of hers in the past, but in the past few weeks have been very disappointed in her decisions and advocacy....

As a constituent, I have called Rep. Schultz's office several times to voice my concerns or more often than not my praise for her. I have always been greeted with courtsey and respect exceeding that in most other congressional offices I have called. When I lobbied against the Iraq war last January, her staff was exceptionally receptive and welcoming and seemed to take my opinion into consideration even though I am but a lowly college age voter.

The past few weeks have been different however. Disappointed with the Florida house delegations opposition to a re-vote primary Florida Dems Abandon Mail-In Vote Plan, and upset with Rep. Schultz's decision not to strongly oppose republican incumbents or support strong democratic challangers, Why we fight, or, why Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a problem I tried to call her office to voice my opinion. On my first attempt, I was told that the re-vote was a purely political matter and that her aides were uninterested in feedback on it. I mentioned that since she was my political representative, she should take my opinion on such matters as a constituent. I had to force the aide to write down a message, which I am sure was summarily discarded and was again told that they had no power over the matter. I was also told that the support for democratic challengers was not an issue that they covered, and to call the Florida Democratic Party. I tried again a few days later after reading more upsetting stories and seeing the re-vote become a no go, and received a similar reception. I asked the aide for the number of the Florida Democratic Party, and gave them a call only to be deferred back to Rep. Schultz's office again.

It is extremely upsetting to find my Rep. suddenly so unresponsive and representative. Indeed, it feel like a betrayal because she always seemed so open and willing when speaking about issues that all democrats can rally around and agree upon. Once the ground shifts to the difficult choices we hope all politicians are qualified to make, I find her lacking the courage to even take feedback from loyal supporters.

How disgraceful and disappointing

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I'm not one of her constituents, but I wrote and called her offices after she appeared on the Ed Schultz show claiming that in every poll ever taken on the priorities of Americans, impeachment doesn't even show up in the top 10.

Since I've scoured the earth for every poll on impeachment, I knew of no poll that ever asked the public to rank priorities that even had impeachment as an option. I simply wanted a copy of those polls she was quoting. I emailed and called every one of her offices. The Florida office said they would get me a copy and email it to me. After I suggested to her Washington office that no such polls exist, they hung up on me. When I called her at the Judiciary Committee number they again told me they would email me copies of the polls.

Guess what? I've never received a response!! I did however, receive a nice email telling me she was against immunity for the telecoms and asked for money. I think I should send her an email telling her the checks in the mail!

is decisively detaching itself from the rest of us.  They no longer care what we think, because they no longer need to care.  They know they have the American people supine, and can take care of the real business of scrathcing each other's backs.  The fact taht Joe ieberman was welcomed baack to the "Democratic caucus" with thunderous applzuse, hugs, and tears is the rule, not the eception for today's ruling class.  So it is with Debbie and her new BFFs the Diaz-Balarts.

somethings and she seemed like a new politician. but it seems she has gotten with the old time political crowd and is taking up their bad habits -

I use to watch Schultz & Meeks on C-SPAN.  I believe she is letting all this go to her head.  She's not what I thought she would be.  But keep trying to get your message thru to her.
