[Update: To the first 4 posters who have said this is "dumb" or "troll-worthy" - I say this to you: Hillary has based her entire experience argument on her being First Lady, a confidant to the president, a co-President, etc. While I deplore the use of the Monica stuff and was a big Bill supporter, I think we honestly have to say that if one person in a couple is hiding THIS MUCH STUFF from their spouse, that it really casts doubt upon the spouse's claims that they were "confidants" and "co-Presidents". I'm sorry, but it does. We've all revealed ways in which Hillary's experience has been debunked, and this is just another way. To those who are calling me a "troll" - come on. You might not agree with me, but I'm not troll.]
The releasing of Hillary Clinton's schedule as First Lady has led to the press jumping all over the Monica Lewinsky issue again, merely to play into the American public's draw to sensationalism, gossip and sex scandals. While I "reject and denounce" the media for sensationalizing this story (and encourage them to focus on dates in the schedule which prove that HRC was involved in promoting NAFTA, etc) I think there IS something we can take away from such revisiting the Lewinsky timeline which rebuts Hillary Clinton's "experience" argument.
The newly released schedules show that Hillary was in the White House at least 7 times while Bill and Monica were having "sexual relations" with one another. These span from November 15, 1995 to March 29, 1997. And, Clinton's "affair" with Lewinsky lasted in some form from 1995 to the end of 1997, about 2 years in total. So, for those 2 years, Bill was keeping at least one very big secret from Hillary: that he was regularly being sexual and emotionally intimate with another woman.
He then spent the next year lying in court, lying in the press, and completely denying a sexual relationship. According to all accounts, Hillary was not told the truth either. He was keeping a big secret from her and working around the clock to try and get the scandal under wraps.
After he came clean with the American public and with Hillary, he slept on the couch for "more than two months" (as he says in his book).
The impeachment hearings, Starr Report, etc went on until 1999.
What does all this mean and why am I bringing it up?
Now, I could care less about Clinton's sex life or the sexual scandal element of this. There WAS a vast right wing conspiracy to nail Clinton for something...
But, I do think this scandal says something about Hillary Clinton and her ridiculous claims that somehow she was co-President and has pressed the presidential threshold.
Given that Bill was actively betraying Hillary in another room in the same building for over 2 years, and lying about it to her the whole time, how much of a confidant was Hillary for the president?
Given that the Lewinsky affair and scandal lasted from 1995-1999, how much "in the know" was Hillary really on "presidential matters?"
Are we to believe that Bill was able to have this emotional and sexual affair for 2 years and more time hiding from Hillary, but that at night he came to bed and used Hillary as a confidant and sounding board for presidential issues?
Are we to believe that while Bill was sleeping on the couch, Hillary was making up her mind whether she wanted to stay with him, and they were both going through a trial, impeachment, etc that somehow during this time she was being "co-President" and gaining "presidential experience?"
I think the First Lady Schedule and how it relates to the Monica Lewinsky scandal really reveals that Hillary wasn't nearly as close to the presidency as she claims.
