Back in 1999, in my younger, Republican years, I felt a certain affinity for a man from Arizona named John McCain. He was a rebel. He spoke of change in Washington D.C., of responsible spending, and of making us proud of our country.
The message resonated with me, and I made my first ever political donation.
Well, it turns out to be pretty damn difficult to get off of John McCain's mailing list. And - God knows - I've tried.
I've tried telling the callers to remove me from the list.
I've returned the forms crossed out with "REMOVE" written in huge letters.
I've tried subtly attaching a post-it with a note indicating that I've re-registered as a Libertarian.
All to no effect.
So, at this point, I've given up, and resigned myself to merely amusing myself with the campaign materials.
Which leads me to this morning.
I received this very charming photo of John McCain and the wealthy, politically connected woman he left his first wife for - you know, the one who had stuck by him through his horrible POW experience.
And this is what I think of John McCain, the man who sold out his party, then sold out the military, then sold out his country and flip-flopped on everything he said he stood for.
Enjoy, McCain staffers!
