In today's sermon Otis Moss made comments about a media "lynching" of Rev. Wright. This is his church, his congregation, and he has the right to say what he wants. But Fox News already has this crap on the front page of their website LINK. Maybe this will get ignored by the MSM. Or maybe they'll talk about it incessantly for another week.
What I know is that Barack Obama is never going to be President if becomes "the black candidate". Never. If this doesn't end soon, he's going to take another dive in the polls...he just doesn't have a CHANCE. He is the best politician of our lifetime, and he has handled this crisis admirably, but he doesn't have a chance.
I also know that Trinity is independent of the Obama campaign in every way. Yet, that isn't how the media sees it or the context in which they will discuss it. And I can feel the optimism of the last few days evaporating. The truth is that, until the cable shows decide to stop talking about race incessantly, all day, every day, as they have been, it probably doesn't matter what Otis Moss says.
What can we do??? I will send out another round of e-mails to CNN and MSNBC expressing my disapproval for their obsession with gotcha politics and sensationalism. And I will put in another hour phonebanking Pennsylvania. But, even as I am taking actions to help Obama, I can't help but be overwhelmed with the terrible reality that his failure or success is not in MY hands, or in our hands, or in his hands, but in the hands of those folks who control the media narrative. It's a sad thought but one that rings true.
Also...I understand why Otis Moss said what he said, and I even agree with it. But I still wish he wouldn't say it.
