First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who participated in last week's NOLA Blogathon and made it a success.
The diaries were all first-rate. And the Blogathon went well in spite of the fact that one of the participants kept getting error codes which kept her from posting, another who had been scheduled did not post a diary, and several diaries quickly slipped off the front page and attracted very little exposure and comments because of the crush of diaries on several "scandales du jour" which could not have been foreseen.
And I like the way the Blogathon turned out: with diaries on a variety of topics, yet all having to do in some way with NOLA. I'm already looking forward to next month's, which will be held Thurs., Apr. 17-Fri., Apr. 18.
First, though, a change: I've decided to rename these blog-athons "NOLA/Gulf Blogathons" to make it clear that we're looking for diaries not only on anything having to do with New Orleans or Katrina, but also on developments in Mississippi, Texas, and the rest of the over Great Britain-sized area impacted by Katrina, Rita, and the federal flood, and are now experiencing neglect from BushCo.
I've also decided that if enough people are interested (more people than there are time slots), more than one diarist can be scheduled for some time slots. Because these are issues that need all the exposure they can get.
Also, a brief personal update, since I noticed under one of the diaries where someone asked about how I'm doing--I'm going to go into more detail on what's going on in a diary next week because I've a counseling session tomorrow and a previously-scheduled doctor's appointment coming up this Friday where I'll be bringing it up with the doctor, so I hope to find out more.
But back to the next NOLA/Gulf Blogathon: here's the schedule--all times are Pacific:
