Dick Cheney continues to insult the Military and the sacrafices they've made to fight this fabricated war. Not only do they suffer the insult of having to fight this war without being properly equipped and the guarantee that if they are injured, that they will be properly cared for. Dick likes to remind us all that they volunteered for it.
"The president carries the biggest burden, obviously," Cheney said. "He's the one who has to make the decision to commit young Americans, but we are fortunate to have a group of men and women, the all-volunteer force, who voluntarily put on the uniform and go in harm's way for the rest of us."

"When you talk about an all-volunteer force, some of these soldiers, airmen, Marines have been on two, three, four, some of them more than that, deployments," Raddatz said. "Do you think when they volunteered they had any idea that there would be so many deployments or stop-loss? Some of those who want to get out can't because of stop-loss?"
"A lot of men and women sign up because sometimes they will see developments," Cheney said. "For example, 9/11 stimulated a lot of folks to volunteer for the military because they wanted to be involved in defending the country."

Of course we all know that the war in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with 9/11 and Bush has proven over and over again that he really doesn't care much about the war unless it' affects him directly. Poor President Bush, having to lie to everyone so he can send our young women and men off to war. Oh the burden of it all!
Bush admits that Iraq Had Nothing To Do With 9/11
I wanted to write this short diary to let Cheney know that when good people volunteer to help their Country out of a sense of duty or because they have no other choice (They Become Soldiers Because They Can't Afford to Become Students, Homeowners and Parents ), the leaders of this Country have the moral obligation to take their lives to be as precious as their own. And every life lost, from American soldiers to Iraqi civilians, is one life to many.
The burden of this war will last for many years to come, not only the lost lives but the mountain of debt incurred to fight a war that didn't have to be. Today Nancy Pelosi issued a Press Release and although it doens't go far enough and impeachment is still off the table, she said things that had to be said.
WASHINGTON, March 24 PRNewswire-USNewswire — Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on reports that the death toll for United States soldiers in Iraq has reached 4,000:
"Today, we mourn America’s fallen heroes; the deaths of 4,000 American soldiers is a grim reminder of the enormous cost of war in Iraq: the human cost. We honor those soldiers, America’s best and bravest who have paid the ultimate price, and pray for their families and loved ones.
"With 4,000 American lives lost and thousands injured, many of them permanently, Americans are asking how much longer must our troops continue to sacrifice for the sake of an Iraqi government that is unwilling or unable to secure its own future.
"Americans also understand that the cost of the war to our national security, military readiness and our reputation around the world is immense and that the threat to our economy — as the war in Iraq continues to take us deeper into debt — is unacceptable.
"America wants a New Direction, not the continuation of the President’s plan for a 10-year, three trillion dollar war in Iraq."

Every single death is one too many. 97% of these deaths came after Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" on May 1st, 2003. Bush had the power to end it then and he has the power to end it now. But obviously neither Cheney or Bush care about what this Country wants or what is best for our Nation.
CHENEY: On the security front, I think there’s a general consensus that we’ve made major progress, that the surge has worked. That’s been a major success.
RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s not worth fighting.
CHENEY: So?
RADDATZ So? You don’t care what the American people think?
CHENEY: No. I think you cannot be blown off course by the fluctuations in the public opinion polls.
Think Progress
So, do we really want more of this bullshit, more war and more lives lost? Do we want more lies and more coverups? Of course not. I hope we can all agree that the best thing that can happen in November is a Democrat winning the election.
It is not my intention to question the willingness of our Military to make the greatest sacrafice of all, I just don't know what Cheney or Bush have ever sacraficed for this war. My Father fought in the Vietnam war and My Grandfather fought in WWII. My family has been touched by the affects of war and I do not take that for granted, I just think that our Commander and Cheif does as well as our Vice President.
