Last night I printed, folded, stuffed, addressed, licked and stamped 118 Missouri Third Congressional District "please pick me to be represent CD3 in Denver" fliers. This morning before work, I stopped by the post office and gleefully sent the fliers on their way. I hope the seeds I plant with this mailer bear fruit with a nod to the National Convention in Denver.
Are you from the Third Congressional District in Missouri? Will you be attending the caucus on Thursday evening? If so, let's chat!
(If not, I won't stop you from reading)
Y'see, I was fortunate enough to work with Barack Obama when I lived in Illinois. As a college student at an Illinois University, I worked tirelessly for Obama for his U.S. Senate campaign. It was my first taste of grassroots democracy and I'll never forget my volunteer experiences. In many ways, Obama was my "gateway candidate."
(As an added bonus, it was totally kick-ass to rout that Carpetbaggin' a-hole Alan Keyes.)
Anyway, I digress...
Once Obama had an insurmountable lead over Keyes, he started branching out and sent his campaign staff to work for other candidates (like Melissa Bean in another IL District). That was my moment of clarity: I knew he was on to something. If you can believe it, Obama was for coattails before he was, uh, really for coattails.
After college, I moved to St. Louis with my wife and our two cats.
I have a long, proud history of supporting Barack Obama, from back when he was Mr. Obama to now as Senator Obama. I hope to continue to support him as he marches forward to the nomination in Denver, where I will hopefully cast my vote as a Missouri Delegate.
Please, if you are a pledged delegate from your county or ward and will be attending Thursday's caucus in the Third Congressional District in Missouri, drop me a line. I need your help getting to Denver!
(I really wanted to call this diary "The only thing worse than the taste of manilla envelopes is the smell of defeat". Papercuts for Obama worked better... and I've even got a few battle scars to brandish if questioned)
