Over at TalkLeft, an ardent pro-Hillary blog, the proprietor, Jeralyn Merritt, does not allow anybody to call Hillary a liar. It's okay to say she was inaccurate though. At TalkLeft "chattering" is forbidden. A "chatterer" is somebody who holds views opposite of hers. So long as you agree with her, it's okay to post 50 comments, although her rules state that there is a maximum of 20 comments per day.
So, okay, her site is weird, she's kinda weird, and it's certainly authoritarian. She's also got a big bug about profanity, personal attacks, name-calling and insults.
Evidently, the requirement of good manners and civility doesn't apply when discussing a certain presidential candidate. Guess which one?
This afternoon, Jeralyn posted a front page article about the Obamas' charitable contributions as revealed on their 2000-2006 tax returns under the title "Obama Releases Tax Returns, A Pittance for Charity."
Her article was pretty much taken wholesale from another blog.
Jeralyn blasts Obama for his minimal charitable contributions from 2000-2004. During that time Barack and Michelle were still paying off their student loans and starting a family. After Barack published his book and earned substantially more in 2005, their charitable contributions also increased substantially.
As an accountant noted in the comments over at TalkLeft, the Obamas' charitable contributions were average for those in their income bracket. They are also the least wealthy family running for the office. Perhaps of Barack had joined the Rose Law Firm after graduating from Harvard, he'd have been in a better position to make charitable contributions of money, but certainly would have been unable to perform the community service he offered.
It was a shameful cheap shot Jeralyn. I don't know how Armando manages to put up with your dirty shenanigans.
Feel free to register at TalkLeft and let Jeralyn know your thoughts about her cheap shot antics.
