Steven Colbert has issued us a challenge. Help raise funds for school projects in Pa. in the name of Barack Obama. Some of the needs we will be fulfilling:
The majority of our special needs students perform Below Basic in the standardized test in the area of Reading. These students lack the vocabulary skills needed to succeed. They are performing on average of 1 to 3 years below their expected level in Reading. Our students simply need to improve their understanding of the English language
here is another project
Your contribution to my classroom would open up a whole new world to my students that many of us take for granted. The earlier students get and opportunity to correctly use a computer, the more it will pay off as they continue their high school and college careers!
or this one
Yet there are still challenges. Some students can't afford basic supplies like pencils, and others - 16-year-olds - have not yet learned to bring one to school. My school has received funding for technological investments, but it only covers certain things. To function well - across a dozen different types of projects, every day of the year - we need this hodgepodge list of supplies.
This is a great way to get some excellent word of mouth for Obama, and to do something really positive in these kids lives. If we can raise 55 million dollars in a month for the campaign we can raise a few thousand dollars for these kids and start doing the work Obama talks about in his campaign.
As a nation we shouuld be ashamed that this kind of fundraising is even needed. As Obama supporters we should in the front lines of being the change we seek.
Yes We Can!
So go now and donate to a great cause in the name of a great candidate
