I haven't seen these stories discussed yet. But I think they are major. This will be a short diary. I posted it in the Open Diary but...this is big.
OK. The CBS story tonight is HUGE. It really rips Hillary apart on the Bosnia issues and just keeps nailing her. It's brutal. They really take her on. At this point, it's a beautiful dream come true. BUT the best part is at the end.
More after the flip
The next story is about NAFTA. Shuster took the NAFTA story out during Hardball. While not quite as sharp, it would have left a paper cut.
To give credit where credit is due, I found both of these stories on The Field. I also note that both of these are from our own JedReport, I guess. If these have been published and discussed, and I'd be surprised if they haven't, I will take them down.
What I think is important is that something is happening here. The walls are closing in. The best part is, this is not an attack from an opponent. These are HRC's own words eviscerating credibility. And the Nets have it. I wonder, to myself, whether this is being helped along by the Dem leadership. What say?
UPDATE: Holy Shit!!! To keep up with the media meltdown, here's the ABC story...also care of The Field and JedReport. Whew. Toast.
UPDATE 2 The Bible just said this.
Proverbs 11:29: "He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind."
It's been banging around in my head lately. I'm not too religious, not in that way, but y'know, sometimes the Bible can really lay it down. I mean, in many respects, isn't this what may be happening?
Update the Third Here's a link to the CBS News web page's report. Pretty unremitting.
CBS: Clinton Contradicted Again
She claimed she misspoke and was sleep deprived, but CBS News has found several times in the past few months Senator Clinton used the Bosnia trip to try to show her international experience, reports Sharyl Attkisson. Clinton did so in Iowa in December, Texas in February and also last week.
ABCNEWS has it too. Owww...harsh.
Questions surrounding whether or not Clinton embellished a 1996 trip to Bosnia are particularly embarrassing for her because she has campaigned so hard on her "experience," arguing that she is ready to answer the 3 a.m. crisis call at the White House.
Video footage from the trip reveals no visible threat and a brief greeting ceremony on the tarmac. A little Bosnian schoolgirl read them a poem. The first lady paused for pictures. She and daughter Chelsea even climbed up on a guard tower.
John Pomfret, a Washington Post reporter who was there to capture the moment, said, "The whole Tuzla sector was under the control of the Americans. We were driving around in soft-skin cars. No reporters I know of were wearing flak jackets at the time. So it was pretty much a peaceful area."
Here's the NY Times story.
It's kinda bloodless. Although maybe I'm tired.
From AP
I'm beginning to think that Hillary is banging herself in the knee with a lead pipe. This story is brutal, as well. Whew.
But during a speech last week on Iraq, Clinton stretched the truth to the breaking point. "I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia and ... there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the first lady. That's where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
Hogwash. The truth is:
There was no sniper fire.
Nobody ducked for cover.
Bad weather, not security concerns, kept her husband from making the same trip a few months earlier.
Clinton and her aides stood behind the story, which she has told more than once, until video surfaced showing the former first lady, her daughter, Chelsea, and their entourage strolling off the plane and walking calmly across the tarmac.
Tip o' the hat to pawir!!
Update the Fourth Tim Russert, Brian Williams and Andrea Mitchell weigh in. Does seem like the media narrative is shifting, eh?
Hattip to rhfactor!!
