I know I know, I will get flamed for having any to begin with.
but in an effort to get to the truth I tend to read from all sources, Republican, Democrat, progressive, you name it if you link it I probably book mark it and will visit it later.
I found TM.com from here and since then I visit it every now and then, she is obviously pro-clinton and will spin just a bit, but I thought she at least cared about the truth.
Currently on her lead entry is the new NBC/WSJ poll her title
http://www.taylormarsh.com/
NBC/Wall Street Journal Embarrassed on Oversampling
I just couldn't believe it she leads with this
As you know, the sample for the March 24-25 poll on race included an "oversample" of 100 African American voters. - MSNBC First Read
just she then quote MSNBC's explanation from the article she is quoting? no
does she provide her own explanation so her readers will know what this means? no
instead she quotes a comment from the site
Here's an interesting comment from reader Dr. TS:
I literally just received an E-mail from my husband on the innacuracy of this poll. He is more statistically inclined. He said the following:
I’m surprised they released this poll. The actual results mention the over sampling but it doesn’t match up with the question about race. This shows 11% were AA which would be 77 out of 700. But, they state they oversampled by 100 which means 177 were AA (25%). I don’t see how they can make any inferences about overall voters since the sample sizes aren’t reflective of the actual population. They don’t say what they did with the extra 100 AA respondents. Plus, the AA respondent results have a higher error (since it’s a smaller sample size) so you really can’t say anything about those results. (This poll's results has an error of +/- 7.4%!]
she then goes on to say
Bottom line: Oversampling Asking African Americans to find out what they think on Obama's pastor disaster isn't really the issue is it? With African Americans backing Obama 9 to 1, does anybody really believe that Wright is going to move them? What about how white voters feel
The answer is YES, especially if you want to know how the Wright scandal affected his standings among AA voters!
to be fair THIS is the explanation that she was to busy to quote:
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/
The main sample for the survey was a cross section of 700 registered voters nationally. As is the case with all of our usual polls, this sample is statistically representative of voters across the country, accurately reflecting the gender, age, educational, geographical, and racial makeup of the electorate. The column in the topline document labeled "All Voters", as well as nearly all of the subgroups listed in the survey crosstabs, are among these cross section of 700. Eleven percent (11%) of these interviews -- or 77 interviews -- were with African Americans, which accurately reflects African Americans’ proportion of the electorate. Thus, African Americans are NOT over-represented in our national sample.
this really saddens me, she knows her readers are going to get the wrong assumption and spread it, I thought she cared about facts and the truth.
but to quote from this poll and completely skip their explanation and post a comment that has it all wrong.
at this point I have to ask
is Taylor Marsh and TM.com purposely misleading their readers to paint Hillary in the best light possible?
sadly I think this diary speaks for itself.
I don't care if we all have different opinions and don't agree, but can't we be honest about it?
