"No amount of rhetoric can hide Senator Obama’s clear record of embracing the liberal tax and spend, big government policies that hit hardworking American families at a time when they’re most vulnerable, and are certain to move America backward," McCain spokesperson Tucker Bounds said in a written statement released this morning.
sigh
Thinking of the subprime credit crisis, we need to understand that it is important to live within one's means. The Bush policy of cutting taxes while increasing spending to support a war aren't the values that our grandfathers used in WWII. McCain should personally remember that ALL Americans sacrificed to ensure a victory, when that Naval officer yelled to his dad that Pearl Harbor was bombed.
But McCain wants to be in a war for 100 years apparantly using deficit spending. That's like borrowing on your house, even as property values are declining. We can't afford to repeat the fiscal irresponsibility of the Bush administration. Soon our government will be in a subprime loan mess of its own.
Republicans like to spend on bombs which do not help our economy. Democrats like to spend on education so that our children can become productive in the economy. Democrats like to spend on infrastructure like levees and highways. The difference is similar to borrowing on your house to go on a vacation and buy a big screen TV, versus increasing your payroll deductions to afford a new roof. The roof adds value as an investment, the vacation borrows for your gratification.
McCain argues against big government. Unfortunately unless the GOP destroy America further and we degrade into seperate city-states the government is necessarily of a size to manage its complexity.
Not having government regulation of financial markets has costs. Paying for regulation actually saves money, just like educating kids helps keep them out of prison.
When will the media stop accepting the sham of "Tax and Spend" and point out that revenues are needed to have a functional society?
