Upon arriving at 7:55 we (Mrs. Wino and myself) made our way to the end of the line, near the beginning. The line snaked from the door of the practice gym to the lobby, back down the hallway. People just kept coming soon the end of the line was around the corner so I couldn`t see it. There were literaly thousands in the line. About 8:30 they announced problems with the printer for delegate name tags. Half an hour later the line started moving. I could tell by people moving in the opposite dirrection from where I was standing. We snaked our way to the lobby and back to the doors.
Finally we were in, I got my alternate tag the missus got a visitor tag, then into the auditorium. Got a seat in the bleachers with a good view of the stage, and settled in for a long day. Next time I`ll know better, bring a lunch bottled water and a pillow to sit on.
There was a steady stream of people for hours. Over two thousand Democrats in one place. Never before in Williamson county history had such an event occured. This is just the start of a Blue Texas.
Williamson County Convention Report by Texas Grey Wolf is a good example of what it was like. TGW look me up and drop me an email. The noise was too much for my wife so she left with a headache.
When we broke for lunch I almost left, but decided against it. This was history in the making, something to tell the grandchildren when they are old enough. Good thing I didn`t leave. At 4 oclock I was turned into a Delegate, and had to exchange my tag. A delegate had to leave for a meeting at 6 she couldn`t get out of. We all thought it would be over by 5:00, we were mistaken.
We separated into our precincts to caucus, and it went fairly well. We got 1 Delegate for Obama and 1 for Clinton to the State convention. Both Alternates are Obama supporters. Our precinct was the last one to turn in our paper work, to cheers and applause from everyone. At 8:00 we decided to leave, they hadn`t finished voting on the Resolutions or Delegates at large. It was an Adventure to remember.
After a good nights sleep I turned on the tv to see the results, and was not surprised. They were showing Travis County Convention, Kath25 was shown and heard. Congrats Kath.
Go Obama.
