As is usual in the last week of the quarter, it seems like every other diary has been a pitch for a candidate. (That's not even counting the front-page appeals for the Blur Majority folks.)
So, no doubt, many of you have been breathing small sighs of relief that, at least for a little while, we can return to your-Presidential-candidate-sucks diaries, and pie.
Not so fast, friends. Join me after flip, as I cue the music from Jaws.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back on DailyKos, one last candidate appeal. Due to a little quirk in FEC regulations, House candidates in Pennsylvania have an extra two days to raise money this quarter. For them, the reporting deadline is midnight tonight.
So allow me to introduce you to Kyle Foust, running in the Democratic primary in PA-3, home of the loathsome incumbent Congressman Phil English.
Kyle is a lifelong Democrat and resident of the district. He's a two-term Erie County Councilman who kept his campaign promises so well that he was unopposed last year for re-election.
Kyle's been endorsed by nine unions (eight more than any other candidate in the race) because he has worked hard for working families and created jobs through creative public policy.
He's also signed on to the "Responsible Plan to End the War," and not only is an advocate for green jobs in NW PA, he is the only elected official around who opposed a toxic tire-burning plant planned for a residential neighborhood. (This has made some of his political allies angry, but Kyle is certain it is the right thing to do.)
Most important, Kyle is the only one of the four Democrats in the primary (three men and one pro-life, neo-Republican woman) who can actually BEAT Phil English in the fall.
This district has had some weak Dem nominees in the past few cycles - the last guy (who also ran in '04) spent only $63,000. Yet English is so weak, he had to spend over a million-and-a-half to get only 53% of the vote.
By contrast, in Kyle's first race for council, he had to run against the entire Republican machine (his seat would swing the council from an R majority to a D one), was outspent 2-to-1, and won by 20 points.
Kyle Foust knows how to beat tough Republican incumbents.
So, please consider showing him a little love before midnight tonight at http://actblue.com/...

Thanks for your help!
