According to the American Chronicle
Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy´s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman´s 17-year career.
Why?
"Because she was a liar," Zeifman said in an interview last week. "She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality."
UPDATE - the author of Jerry Zeifman's book within which this info is contained posts the same here.
Much is being made about Obama's "pastor problem" to the exclusion of the decades of baggage that the Clintons bring in an effort to paint him unelectable.
Isn't this issue like Bosnia on acid? Is this the game the Clinton's really want to play?
The issue with dragging this campaign on transcends Obama's electability and starts to call into question the Clinton's political capital. I, for one, do not like having the rose-colored glasses through which I have chosen to view the Clintons shattered. I appreciated their efforts in the black community and the economic comfort I enjoyed under Bill's leadership. I did not think about the presidency under Bill - and that was okay for me then.
However, if Obama's supporters are forced to have to defend him against the many overt and covert Wright-jabs, because he cannot do so and remain electable, why wouldn't we begin to use these types of things? Why wouldn't the Repugs? This is easier for the right to use against Hillary than Wright is against Obama given the sundry assortment of religious characters hanging out with McShame, Bush and Co!
Add Peter Paul, Norman Hsu, Rezco co-defendants, Lewinski, etc. and what we have here is a toxic brew of scandal reminiscent of everything NOT right with the 90's. Clinton supporters should avoid being upset with Obama supporters over such things. Most of us have kept our guns trained on the Repugs until begin shot by friendly fire.
And, yes, we can all still come together at the end of this. However, the question of the toll it will take on the party is still in question. Is this what it will come to?
