That BBC headline today pretty much sums it up. Report here
Rocket attack on the Green Zone. 2 US personnel dead, 17 wounded.
A simultaneous assault on a forward US Baghdad base left 1 dead, 14 wounded.
Total US casualties today so far, 3 dead, 31 wounded.
In Sadr City, 22 Iraqis dead and approx 50 wounded.
'The Surge' is over. Or at least, any pretence of claiming it is/was/will be successful in any way.
They are attacking the Green Zone. US soldiers are being attacked. In the Green Zone. In their bases. And being killed and wounded. In the Green Zone. Not out on patrol. In their own bases. And in the Green Zone.
34 casualties in one day. And the day's not even over yet.
This wasn't happening before The Surge, was it?
There's not much else to say, really. Except that this won't make any news.
