This is my first diary EVER, so I would ask for just a touch of forbearance from the multitudes!
I have been wating to see what would follow the Clinton "Kitchen Sink" campaign against Barack Obama. The first shot in what I would consider to be the "Post-Penn" Hillary attacks was fired this morning in The Wall Street Journal (which, IMHO, has been running a close second to Fox news lately - wonder why?).

Former Clinton attorney Lanny Davis has launched another salvo in the Rev. Wright controversy, raising yet again the spectre of "what the Repugs will do," and providing a perfect example of just how ugly it will get. Of course, this is also another example of just how dirty the Clinton machine intends for things to be in their all-too-accurate impersonation of the Republican attack machine.
I find it intersting, however, that Davis mentions what he would do if his Rabbi were to make comments similar to Rev. Wright's from the pulpit. Personally, I have seen many defenses of Rev. Wright and Obama from members of Mr. Davis' own faith! Links to two examples are included.
Lest one conclude from the first example - a neighbor of Barack's who also happens to be a Rabbi - that his support comes only from "friendly territory," - the second example comes from my own hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. As has been noted in other diaries, SC hardly has a reputation as being all that tolerant - something that is all too often exaggerated, even here on Dkos. It IS very much improved of late.

I have no doubt that the Repugs will use every weapon at their disposal to attack Mr. Obama in the General Election. However, I also have every reason to hope that the country will rise above the stupidity this time, just as my own home state did in Barack's victory there.
Whether Hillary and her minions will develop the good sense to forego any further Mutually Assured Destruction is debatable - and very doubtful.
