Thank you, fellow Kossacks, for all that we’ve done together. You encouraged me to run. You helped to brand my campaign. And you spread the word that change is coming in Nebraska.
Yet we still have so far to go. We face an extremely wealthy opponent in the May 13th Democratic primary. He just announced a huge self-funded TV ad buy. As you know, big money can exert a lot of influence in the political process.
Our campaign stands for something different. We stand for public service, for civic engagement, for normal, busy people who say "no" to apathy. We stand for people who take the time to care about our country.
Are you one of those people?
Our campaign took a huge risk today: we set our sights on raising $50,000 in 5 days to respond to our opponent. That’s an awful lot of money in Nebraska. We need everyone to saddle up if we’re going to take back the airwaves.
Saddle up with me and show Nebraska that people power is real. Saddle up with me and show the insiders that you will fight for change. Saddle up with me and show them that our strength lies not in the privileged few, but among the hardworking many.
Nebraska has a proud tradition of electing Democratic Senators with an independent streak. Let’s pour ourselves into this primary so we can give voters a real choice this fall. Let’s give them a real people-powered campaign.
Thanks so much,
Scott
