I keep waiting for someone to point this out--it's so obvious. Have I missed it? Has anyone else, like maybe a real journalist--mentioned this niggly little point?
I've always thought of Matthews as a hack and on his appearance on Colbert, he came right out and explained why I'm right. He talked about his job and his future plan to maybe run for the senate. That's when he'll be working for the people.
And what's the obvious conclusion from that last slip about eventually serving the peeps-->> At the moment that's not his focus. Later on he'll be serving the public good. Ahhhhh. So here's what he comes right out and sez: his current career is about Chris Matthews and not much else.
The people associated with news I've admired have put themselves into uncomfortable situations, taken risks far greater than most politicians. They are NOT putting themselves on the line for their own futures or for the fame but for the sake of truth. That's the hallmark of true service.
The ghost of every journalist, pundit or reporter who's taken risks filling a vital role--all those real reporters who've been killed for seeking out the truth and not backing down from the face of corrupt government--should be haunting Matthews about now.
Read about these people and feel embarrassed for Mr. Matthews.
I sure hope once he starts to sacrifice himself for our good, he does a better job.
