Well, since I'm in Florida, and couldn't really make an impact on the primary voting because of our stupid legislators here, I took the opportunity today to call up my grandma in Philly and ask her who she was voting for...
She's not very political, but its another one for Obama!
Granny grew up during the Depression. The second of 11 kids, she was the "mother" to all of them - and still is to her seven brothers and sisters who are still alive. She is an incredibly vibrant 89 years old - and will be 90 in May...
Every year, when we visit her, my husband and I have the best time, in the simpliest setting...getting fed until our buttons nearly pop, and playing pinocle with her half the night, while laughing until our drinks - most assurable - go spewing out our nostrils...a grand time!
She is not your typical Obama voter by any "fit nicely in the box" factor. But, she votes in every election...
So today I took the opportunity to call (not that I wouldn't call if there wasn't a vote, she is the coolest most awesome granny in the entire world!)...to remind her to vote tomorrow - and also to see who she was voting for...she is an old school democrat, so I was really curious...
I am happy to report - granny is voting for "our boy" (hey, anyone would be a boy to an 89 year old - right?)...
And this is why...we had told her about Obama the last few times that we had visited, first in June - when we dropped by after the Take Back America conference, and also during Christmas, when we spent a week with her...
I guess what I'm saying is that people really do make a difference - if you know anyone in Pennsylvania - call them, tell them to vote - explain why you like Obama, and what he could mean to the country...
For many people, for people that you actually know - this is enough...and what a difference the many of us could make...
Enough to end this thing hopefully...enough to unite the democratic party again - finallY!
