I called and canvassed for Senator Obama in MontCo PA for 3 days in the run up to the PA vote. (I came up from VA). I was disappointed when I heard the campaign start to make statements that 'Obama was not expecting to win PA' on Monday. On election day (Tuesday), the message was reinforced that he didn't expect to win the vote AND he'd set-up his post-vote speech in Indiana. I'm sorry, but, political calculations aside, that was a great way to suck the wind out of the supporters' sails - let alone the undecided and late voters in PA.
That was not the smartest move, Sen. Obama.
I voted for you in the VA primary, and worked for you in the PA primary. If you want me to believe you can actually carry the Democratic nomination and lead us to victory vs. McCain:
- Win Indiana DECISIVELY.
- Win North Carolina - as all polls/pundits/demographics suggest you will
Then: Stop playing nice and tell Hillary that it's time for her to step ASIDE!
More below the fold...
Politics is not all about the 'math'. I wish it were, because I find the world much more intelligible via mathematics. In reality, politics is about people.
Sen. Obama, you inspired us with your vision early in the campaign. You inspired us with your speech in Philadelphia at the height of the Wright issues. From what I've heard, you inspired many people on your whistle stop train tour through PA.
Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Unfortunately, it wasn't even close. It's certainly not your fault that many people are 'clinging' to the Clinton legacy, or can't see beyond your skin color, or are threatened by the idea that the government might actually be "OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people."
McCain and Clinton are ganging up on "Hope". Unfortunately, they ARE in the majority right now. How can we get more people to take a 'chance' and take responsibility for their own future?
I, for one, have long been tired of being 'dictated' to.
Senator Obama, you are the only real choice for change, and I am a strong supporter.
From here on in, how do we make it happen?
(All I want is someone in the White House who will listen. Is that too much to ask?)
