I usually do grocery shopping as I usually find it relaxing as I stride through the aisles planning a gourmet menu. Lately though, I see a real crisis. It's not the election.
It's not Clinton versus Obama nor is it either Democrat versus McBush.
I saw a bumper sticker again today. Big 200 point type, white ink on black that says "PANIC" and I can imagine many who are feeling it. Take note...
The price of rice, long grain jasmine, 50 lbs sack has gone from $18.00 to a staggering $37.99 today with a limit of 2 sacks per customer. The price of beans have likewise doubled. Regular gas is now officially $4.00 per gallon.
People are are going to suffer. Reports of high food prices are one thing. It becomes personal when you have to pull out dollar bills instead of credit cards to save a few cents (paying in cash at our local gas station saves you a few cents) and pay $80.00 for a tank of gas. It becomes personal when a staple such as rice has risen 101% People are now foregoing the steaks for pork chops and those that were on pork chops are now on beans and rice.
This is not a third world country but I strongly suspect that there are middle class families that are in fear of hunger. I don't even have enough mental energy to contemplate a McBush presidency as the crisis is so real for many families today.
I don't really have a solution but unless the Fed moves to curb the staggering inflation, we will drive this economy into a depression.
Folks, I know you think this is crazy but if you can please pass this simple poll around to others outside of this community, I would appreciate it as I want to get a real pulse of the country. I know it's not scientific but if we get enough votes on the poll, we might use it as an awareness tool.
