Whilst I was getting ready to take pictures of Poke for the 17 May installment of What's for Dinner, I ran up on these.
These are the strangest dandelions that I have ever seen. I have lots of them, and most are "normal", but these caught my eye.

Does anyone know what is going on here? I have studied nature all of my life, and have NEVER seen anything like this. Pics (if I have figured out how to use Photobucket) after the fold.
Regular visitors and members here know that I usually do not do political diaries, unless Dr. Franklin contacts me. True to form, I was getting ready to take some photographs of Poke for my next installment of What's for Dinner, and saw something very strange.
I have seen dandelions all of my life, since I can just remember. I do not think that enough geologic time has transpired for a new epoch in evolution to have occurred, but Mrs. Translator might argue with that.
In any event, look over these pictures and let me know what you think. Professional botanists are especially encouraged to participate, but those of you who know me also know that I welcome all kinds of input.
Here is the first one.
Here is the second one.
And the final one here.
What is going on with these plants? They seem to have fused their multiple flower stems together, and become very strange looking. Is this a disease, a result of my mistake of using an herbicide years ago, or something new? Just the strangest thing that I have seen in a long time
I thank the community for its help in advance, and, as always, warmest regards, Doc.
