Today, I witnessed the death of a political career. I watched in horror as a campaign that once lifted my spirits, challenged me to hope, to dream, to have faith in my brothers and sisters, came to a swift and violent end. I had heard all the chatter about there being no way any candidate could overcome such vicious assaults. I had seen the seemingly endless loops of bad stories, stupid gaffes, and depressing polls that had taken over cable news. Despite all of this, I remained steadfast in my support, unwavering in the face of all the negativity.
This man was different. This man had something special. This man was going to elevate the political process and bring this nation out from the darkness and back into the light. This man would not be tarnished by cheap personal attacks. He was strong. He was wise. He could overcome anything.
I was convinced that he was finally starting to turn things around even though he had been backed into a corner. He was going to resurrect his campaign once again.
But then he made the single greatest mistake of his entire political career, swiftly putting the final nail into his own coffin.
Barack Obama asked an untested, unknown, politically inexperienced old woman to be his running mate.
Pardon me, but WTF!?!??
ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME???
Barack, the woman is 82 years old! No one has ever heard of her! Where in the hell did this woman come from?? No one knows! She hasn't been vetted!
Can you imagine what the MSM is going to do with this? Did you ever for a second consider what a huge favor you were doing for McCain and the Right Wing Noise Machine? Christ alive, man!
I mean honestly, if you think Pastorgate and Bittergate were bad, just wait until Octogenarigate ramps into full gear.
Here you are, in the fight of your political life, the media is dragging you over the coals, Hillary is trying to keep herself afloat by stepping all over you, Reverend Wright is doing all that he can to sabotage you, and you go and hand them this nugget of attack ad gold?
I had so much faith in you, Barack. I really thought you had a chance to win this thing. You were going to permanently alter the face of this once proud nation. You were going to drag us up out of the slime and filth and show us what we were capable of. This ruins all of it.
What am I supposed to do now? I wanted more than anything to see you sworn in as the 44th President of the United States of America. You've dashed my hopes and dreams. You've thrown everything I've invested in you, all the time, energy, and money, completely down the drain.
Thanks a lot Barack Obama. You had to go and pick HER to be your running mate. Awesome. Get back to me when you're serious about winning in November.
I need a drink.
