UPDATE: Obama just picked up super #2 of the day
Winthrop farmer Richard Machacek, an Iowa superdelegate, said today he is pledging to support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.
Machacek, a member of the Democratic National Committee, had been uncommitted. He said he saw little difference between Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton on policy positions or ability.

While Clinton may have just gotten the endorsement of NC Governor Mike Easley, Barack Obama quickly canceled it out with the endorsement of Kentucky Representative Ben Chandler.
Democrat Barack Obama's campaign director in Kentucky says Congressman Ben Chandler will endorse Obama for their party's presidential nomination.
Carolyn Tandy told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Chandler will announce his support for Obama at a midday news conference in downtown Louisville. Chandler represents a central Kentucky district and carries one of the most famous names in Kentucky politics. - WAVE 3 TV
This latest endorsement will keep the superdelegate spread at 20 at Democratic Convention Watch's Superdelegate Endorsement List.
Today marks the first day we've dropped below 300 remaining superdelegates. Chandler's endorsement puts us at 298 remaining.
Ben Chandler was first elected in a special election in February 2004 to represent Kentucky's Sixth District in the United States House of Representatives. In January 2007, Chandler was selected by his Democratic colleagues to serve on the coveted House Committee on Appropriations. Chandler also serves on the Science and Technology Committee and serves with eleven other Members of Congress on the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Prior to his election to Congress, Chandler served two terms as Kentucky's Attorney General. In 1995, he became the youngest Attorney General in the nation and was reelected in 1999 without opposition to a second term. He previously served a four-year term as Kentucky State Auditor, where he developed a reputation as a strong fighter against government waste and corruption.
