People are not good or bad. They're complicated.
Obama's not sitting on one side of the teeter-totter with Ghandi, Sun Flowers, Happiness, That One Plan That Saves The Everything, and Al Gore on an eco-friendly hovercraft. Hillary's not on the other side with Sith Lords, High Fructose Corn Syrup, The Contents of Cheney's Safe, The Secret Plan To Destroy That One Thing, and a chilled glass of virgin blood.
Politics is not a zero-sum game.
Those things are just as ridiculous of accusing someone of selling their souls because they politically sucker-punch you with a cartoon Rev. Wright mallet they didn't bother hiding behind their backs.
Cartoon mallets are stupid and unfair. So are near-racist framings, the misconstruing of Obama's abilities and accomplishments, and the flat out lying about a fellow Democrat.
I wish this world were perfect, but lies do win over the truth. It happens all the time. Every day. Probably everywhere. You know what you do in that world?
You lie.
Because that's the world. You don't do it all the time. You try your best to do for the right reasons. Like not hurting someone's feelings after a break-up, or averting nuclear war. Politicians almost always lie to much. There's always going to be a segment of the population that will be outraged when a lie is unearthed (kind of goes with the territory).
But sometimes you can lie your way into not being impeached, and it's okay because the bullshit reason you were impeached was, well, bullshit. And sometimes it's good to lie about having space weapons because it bankrupts the Soviets into trying to do the same, and sometimes your a criminal bastard because you lie about training terrorists in South America.
I believe Obama's one of those rare politicians who really does try to hold himself and others to a higher standard.
So someone else has to do the dirty for him. And that's why after the dust settles down, WE NEED HILLARY CLINTON. Frankly, I'd love to see what she'd do with the fourth branch of government.
