The Obama campaign finds it's chickens coming home to roost. Having shamelessly and deliberately played the game of racial politics from the beginning, Obama finds himself now having to thread the needle between having to distance himself from important elements of the black community in order to placate white voters.
He may even carry it off, since the actual substance of what he has to say has never been as important to his advocates as the style in which he says it.
