Hey, y'all.
I didn't see an open thread discussing the outcomes of the two special elections in Louisiana today, so I started one.
In case you've been living in a bubble, today LA-06 and LA-01 votes, with a very great shot at winning in LA-06.
I've been calling people all day in LA-06, reminding them that it's election day, and they need to get out there and vote for Don Cazayoux! In fact, I just came back from headquarters, where we went live on the news stations at 6:00pm. There are still a ton of people left to call, but we've almost made it through them all, and everyone's spirits are high.
I've met a ton of very wonderful supporters, including a Republican! They have great people from Arkansas who came to help, as well as people working with the Louisiana Democrats. Spirit are high, as we try to not become one of those districts that other people make fun of (see Steve King's district).
After dinner, I'm back for what will become hopefully a victory celebration! For those of you in the area, the party starts at 8pm, and every Don supporter is welcome. It's at the Women's Club.
If y'all would like to know, we got an injunction against the NRC for their misleading/false calls to African American voters, stating that Don Cazayoux had no African-American politicans supporting him. This was a callous effort to depress turnout, in case African-Americans were upset that the African-American Democratic Candidate lost the nomination to Don.
