I'd like to show a story with my fellow kossacks, it's a personal story and I know it's completely hearsay but I also think it in a nutshell shows not only why Sen Clinton is losing this contest but shouldn't be the nominee.
What I'd like to talk about with my fellow kossacks is my family and specifically my dad.
But first I'd like to give some background, to place this story in some context.
I hail from Missouri, and specifically was born and raised in St. Louis Mo. Now St. Louis for those unfamilair with it is a bit of a strange city, the state of MO is heavily conservative in most areas but St. Louis is mostly liberal. That said there's alot of 'cultural' conservatives in the city (ie people that vote Republican not for jobs or economy but for things like abortion) thus the city is not really as liberal as most would think.
Now my family is largely one of those 'cultural' conservative families and if anything I'm the oddball of the family. My parents work several jobs just to make ends meet and as such have always tended to favor 'reality' over 'high minded but impossible to implement ideas' (as my dad would put it).
My dad has always been conservative, largely because like I said he's a pragmatic person and he's always thought that the GOP and republicans actually had the ideas that not only worked but were implementable. He voted for Bush both times, voted against Clinton and in every down ticket ballot he's gone to vote for he's never voted for the Democrat that I'm aware of.
Further my dad is one of the GOP faithful, he's never missed a chance to vote, because he believes it's his duty as a citizen.
Now I understand that anyone reading this is probably thinking so what's the point? Well the point my friends is this: My dad voted for Obama.
I didn't get to talk much with my dad about his decesion but what I learned was basically that my dad really feels that Obama is for real and not only is he for real but that he(Obama) can actually get results.
Further I was discussing this with my mom and I found that most of my uncles (who are just as conservative as my dad) again voted for Obama.
Now I realize the MO election is a little old but I only found this out earlier this week, and I think it's important to point out that Missouri was decided by less then a percent and that it was Obama's ablity to not only add voters but to pull people into his group that are GOP supporters.
And I point out that that appeal is what will carry the close elections and will carry over to the general.
Just something I wanted to point out.
