I'm an Indiana resident. Perry 05 to be exact. Voted today. So did my wife. Every friend I still talk too voted today. Heh. Tons of co-workers voted. I may have not been able to donate as much as I would have liked. Or put in as much time as I would have liked. But I swear, some of the people I had to speak with at length to seal the deal has to count for something. I honestly feel like I did everything I was able to. A little hope in a hopeless world.
I'll ramble some more on the fold!
I feel good. Driving in this morning I was a little bit worried because the "crazed people screaming on the corner" count was 5 Hillary, 2 Obama. Then I was told that was because those afflicted with Obama Fever were owning the much larger and potentially useful ways into town. Case in point, I came right through the heart of Bloomington Indiana. Hillary is getting votes there from cold dead drunken after 6 pm fratboy hands. Obama filled the shrine to basketball, Hillary could have made due with the Auditorium. Nuff 'said.
Per my friends, Obama owned all the ways one would come into town from the highway. I know the folks in my 500 person office who come in that way. Definitely the kind who could stand to be reminded that it's freaking election day and you should vote Obama.
Strangely enough for Hillary's crazed sign wavers, they had one common theme. Aging women and what appeared to be their young daughters. Nothing in between. I'm not drawing anything there I'm just mentioning it for the record. Ha. Anyway, the Obama supporters I saw making a good show were a late 30s'ish father and his 13 or so year old son. And a team of college aged guys. Black guy/White guy/Asian. Appeared to be having the time of their lives. I swear, if I wasn't already 10 minutes late for work and due for hell once there I would have jumped in. Too much fun.
A Hillary mother/daughter team tried to take credit for my honk. When I was at least 5 car lengths away. Seriously.
I don't know. I feel like I did my best. I can't think of a single soul right now I could drag to the polls in the next half hour. I feel good. If you go by the Communication Services straw poll, lol, I think we win. I guess it all depends how many grandpa's got told to buzz off because they couldn't find that license they haven't used in ten years. Friends dad went through that. He apparently cast a "censored" provisional ballot because he's going to the "censored" BMV to at least get a state ID tomorrow. Ha, hope it counts pops.
Wish I could provide a guarantee that we've turned the tide and the agents of change and hope have won. I hope to God that is the case and that we pull it off. It's all just about out of our hands now.
Thanks to everyone who did more than I did. Thanks to everyone who just got their ass out and voted. At 6 o'clock pop yourself a cold one (or since who am I to judge...smoke 'em if you've got 'em) and lets see how this plays out. Regardless, tomorrow morning the feeling is the same win lose or draw. YES. WE. CAN.
