As much as I wish that Rush didn't have the power and as much as Keith Olbermann might want to believe otherwise, the math suggests that without the "chaos" voters, Indiana could have landed in the Obama column. Take a look and see what you think...
I'm reconstructing the exit polls from memory but here goes. According to MSNBC, 11% of the voters claimed to be Republicans. Against the approximately 1.2 millon votes, that's 132,000 Republican votes.
Now follow this logic... 46 percent voted for Obama. But I remember seeing a exit poll stat for the GOP voters that over 64% said that Obama had the best chance to beat McCain in the fall. That means that over 18% went against reason to vote for the lessor candidate (Hillary) who stood a better chance of losing to McCain. Why would they do that? Because they are "chaos" voters.
Eighteen percent of the 132K Republican voters would be almost 24,000 votes. Depending on how the dust settles, that'd be enough to swing the state to Hillary.
It's a tainted victory at best...
