Forget campaign debt. Forget Vice President. Hillary is staying in because of Puerto Rico and the Popular Vote.
Hillary will likely have the (bogus and illegitimate) Popular Vote lead after Puerto Rico if the remaining contests go as expected. That is the entire reason she is still in this race and it has been for quite some time. She will cite illegitimate totals from Michigan, where Obama was not even on the ballot, and Florida. She will use this to strike another populist tone with low information voters and the superdelegates who fear them.
My fear for Obama has always been Michigan, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Now that his lead in popular vote exceeds Michigan and Florida under any metric, that only leaves Puerto Rico.
Now, I do not think that enough superdelegates will be swayed and Obama will still win the nomination, but this is where she will truly attempt to damage him.
Tweety laughed at the suggestion from Wolfson tonight that PR's popular vote should be used as a metric given that they can not vote in the general election, but reality has not stopped Hilary or her small segment of her voters who are"I'll vote for McCain" lunatics.
This will get play in the media and those leaning towards her and McCain will use this to weaken Obama's odds of winning the Presidency.
Hillary does not care what winning with this convoluted argument would do the Democratic Party and she certainly would not mind if it hurt Obama in November, leaving 2012 open to her.
The worst thing about all this, and I am almost certain Obama will still win the Presidency, is that he will be forced to be the one to respond with "however" or "but" whenever this BS metric is raised. Low information voters or those so radically in support of her (i.e. McCain voters) will accept this myth without using any logic or further thought or listening after "however" or "but" to the actual logic.
