Since the 2000 election, I have been contemplating changing to (I). However, this year I have carefully observed the Dems. during this primary season and to see how it is ending, I came to the conclusion that I must declare my independence.
I understand some people will certainly disagree with my comments, please read below how I came to this difficult decision in a nutshell.
I WILL definitely vote for Barack Obama in the Fall and will work tirelessly for him in Florida but this Primary election has opened my eyes to ugliness of some realms in the Democratic party and equally opened my eyes to positives of the Republican Party. I will continue to donate and support Candidates I feel best represent my interests in the Democratic party.
It has been a watershed time for me about the Party that I thought were the good guys and noble people.
However, I am now witnessing a party leadership that sold itself to the Devil 16 years ago because it was desperate to win the White House.
The Clintons promised the Democrats the house, car, yacht, the diamond ring, basically the world and what did the Democratic Party get in return, almost complete destruction when they were swept out of power in 1994.
Yet did they get a clue? No.
The Dems. continued to be deluded or choose to delude itself about these Clintons who love to dance around the truth like a skilled ballroom dancer who continues to stand up their partner (the Dems) on the day of the big dance competition (Congressional Elections, 2000 and 2004 Presidential Elections).
But for some reason this year is different, some true trailblazers like Durbin, Dodd, Richardson, Daschle, Kerry, Kennedy have decided it was time for Democrats to get a new, exciting and refreshing dancer who has even created some of his own dance moves.
Yet these Trailblazers find the Delusionals obstinate and still willing to dance with the devil. I will not continue to be member of any party that will not stand up for it's ideals and principles.
Say what you will about the Republican Party, a good portion of them do stand up for their principles and ideals whether they be flawed or not.
I can no longer say that the Dems are the good guys and the Republicans are the bad guys. It is far more complex.
This is why I have chosen to leave the Democratic Party and become an Independent.
How is it that the Republicans could have been so right about the Clintons?
Yet DEMS fought almost to the death of the party to defend these scoundrels.
How is it the Republicans can see for themselves that John McCain is NOT TRUSTWORTHY (HOW CAN YOU TRUST THIS MAN TO BE YOUR NOMINEE WHEN BACK IN 2004 HE WAS WILLING TO JUMP SHIP TO JOIN KERRY FOR THE VP SLOT) and there is a strong contingent that will not vote for him. Yet some Democrats are willing to vote for him even against their own interest (DISCLAIMER: I was one of those people at one point in the heat of the moment when I was angry about the Clintons).
LET ME CLARIFY: About George W. Bush, he fooled alot of people and I think the Republicans really thought he was honest, remember the 2004 convention croco tears from GWB during his acceptance speech. And in actuality, GWB is not all bad he has given alot of aid to Africa, most of any previous President and did have a diverse cabinet in both Administrations. ( I see it like one of Obama's principles of talking to your enemies. We are all flawed humans, some more than others but my point is GWB had some redeeming quality that millions people voted for him for two terms. We can argue about the Repubs stealing the elections but the fact remains millions of people voted for this man. I personally despise what his administration has done but sometimes things are not always cut and dry. There are definitely shades of gray.
REMEMBER: Papa was never trusted either by Republicans, hence he was a one term President.
How is it that some Republicans can see the good in Barack Obama, yet some Dems (party of inclusiveness) can't stand the thought of voting for him because he is black/ biracial.
How is it leaders of the Democratic Party sit by quietly, while they allow Hillary Clinton to go about her burn the house down strategy?
THIS IS THE MOST THE TROUBLING THING FOR ME.
I will give the Republicans credit, although many are not thrilled with McCain , the party leaders have rallied behind him and managed to demonstrate a united front.
Even Huckabee was a class act when he competed to the end.
Maybe Hillary is uncontrollable but I doubt she is unstoppable but the DEMS continue to enable her.
HER USA TODAY COMMENTS WERE COMPLETELY OUTRAGEOUS AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN JOLTING TO SDS, yet only 2 came forth to endorse Obama today.
Dem leaders are spineless and I will not continue to let them take me for granted.
I am not saying one should change their affiliation like I did but I think reassessments about each party are fair.
UPDATED: I would like to make it clear that I will continue to support the Democratic Party, I decided that I will not let them take my vote for granted anymore and challenge DEMS to be better.
