I'm really disappointed with our focus right now. We've been talking for over a month now about how the primary race is over. Now that the media is final acknowledging this fact, we're celebrating our "victory".
Check out the Rec list. Six of the eight diaries are about Clinton/Obama, and the other two are meta stuff (Mojo Friday and Markos).
Sure, we'd all like Clinton to drop out (and it will happen soon enough). But we don't accomplish anything by complaining about her belated withdrawal. Clinton is only important in a single way: we all need to actively reach out to her supporters.
I'm sick of talking about Obama vs. Clinton. I'd rather talk about Obama vs. Bush McCain. I'd rather talk about McCain's ultraconservative voting record. I'd rather talk about McCain's astounding ignorance of foreign policy and world history. I'd rather talk about McCain's flip-flops. I'd rather talk about McCain's hypocrisy on campaign finance and lobbyist reform... Oh, and Obama's ambitious 50-state voter registration and mobilization drive begins tomorrow. Volunteers are needed.
And, just as importantly, we need to focus on other races... On Tuesday, there are two important elections. Scott Kleeb is running for the Democratic Senate nomination in Nebraska against an opportunistic and self-financed DINO. And there's a special House election in Mississippi. If all goes well, we'll turn another district from red to blue. On May 20, there's the primary election between Jeff Merkley and Steve Novick in Oregon's Senate race. And on the same day, Democrats in Kentucky are choosing their challenger to Mitch McConnell... Not to mention innumerable House, Senate, and Gubernatorial races in November.
Where are the action alerts? Where are the diaries about upcoming races? I know they exist. We need to put them on the rec list.
