OMIGOD, my jaw about dropped to the floor of the car as I heard this choice McCain sound bite YESTERDAY on NPR's "All Things Considered"!!!! Check out the link:
Mike Shuster's Report yesterday
McCain was speaking to a group of veterans last year, and, according to the reporter, apparently someone asked him when Iran was going to get an "air mail" message from the US,and Mc Cain responded with what he later curtly dismissed as a "joke". NPR's website says:
McCain responded with a musical reference, singing "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" to the tune of the Beach Boys' song "Barbara Ann."
Since then McCain has responded to criticism of his performance with a dismissive, "It was a joke. Get a life."

The Gaffinator said this LAST YEAR? (Apologies for writing about an old sound bite, but NPR aired it just yesterday and that's the first time I'd heard about it.) Where was the media feeding frenzy? I dont' recall it. Can you imagine if Hillary or Obama had done something as like this?? Takes "unpresidential" to a whole new level, now, doesn't it?
Well... who needs a campaign strategist to come up with commercials, when you're opponent is handing you the material of your dreams! That little unpresidential joke is recorded for posterity, folks - and we may well be hearing it A LOT in the fall. It sort of leaves the Bosnia sniper fire, Rev. Wright, AND the Dean "scream" all in the dust, now, doesn't it?
