It's natural, it feels good, and just about everyone does it. But, like masturbation, it really should be done privately.
Now, some people don't mind watching other people gloat. Actually, they kinda get off on it. Especially if the focus of the gloating is something they like to gloat about themselves. Then, in fact, folks might get a kick out of joining in, and forming a nice little circle of mutual gloating.
But most people aren't really interested, and don't want to see it. Even more importantly, if you are the object upon which the gloater is focusing, vocally and shamelessly, in a public space, you are going to be very uncomfortable. You will feel unwelcome, unsafe, defensive, and angry. You will feel like someone is actively trying to humiliate you. You are certainly not going to want to try to form a meaningful relationship with the gloater(s) involved. You certainly won't consider them an ally.
And I'm thinking, as important as a Democratic win in November is, we want to form as many strong, meaningful alliances as we can.
So, if you wanna gloat, go for it. It's human. It's natural. From personal experience, I know it feels really, really good. But please, do it privately. Or with a few intimate gloat-buddies, where the rest of us don't have to watch.
And don't forget to wash your hands afterwards.
