My brother and I are going rounds about Global Warming. He is a staunch conservative so obviously doesn't believe it is real. Below the fold is a couple exerpts from our conversation.
Consrvative Bro: Did you know that in Al's "documentary" An Inconvenient Truth that the picture of Antarctica was computer generated. Why do that if it is a documentary? Did you know that the world's temperature has not increased in the last 7 years and that this past winter was one of the coldest on record? Since we have been discussing this subject the last 6-7 years how many inches has the ocean on the east coast of the US increased? It seems the more time that actually goes by the less effect has actually been occurring.
Me: Instead of listening to what others say, try investigating yourself.
When you listen to talk radio, probably conservative leaning, you will
get what they want you to hear, not the truth. See the other e-mail that
I just sent you about the weather trending warmer. I don't understand
why the right-wing is against the truth. This isn't a political argument.
Conservative Bro: There is no difference between listening to what people say and reading what people say. Truth is truth. I ask again how many inches have the oceans risen in the last 6-7 years? The picture was computer generated. I ask again why if it is a documentary. Why doesn't Al Gore discuss the pros and cons of global warming with experts from the other side? He is like a professor who doesn't like to acknowledge there is another view. Life is easy when you have all the answers and there is only one point of view.
How can I counter this with facts? Or can I, seeing as how he believes everything he hears on radio is a fact.
