Well, my wife had the baby this morning. I just sat there and watched. A boy, a month early, but everything went well. And while I'd like to say something moving and eloquent about a new life in the world and all the hope I have for my new little guy in the post-Bush, post-war era, I'm running on three hours of sleep and about to keel over. (And jealous of guys like Jeff Lieber who can come up with this stuff IN their sleep...)
Anybody have any good boy's names? Trying to come up with a good "E" name in memory of my grandfather. Considered "Barack," but that's already been shot down. Also, it doesn't start with an E.
Oh, and when they wheeled Mrs. Ipsos into the recovery room, I swore the last name on the next room over was "Dailykos." (It was actually "Dalykas" - close enough.)
**UPDATE - Picture over the fold**
Notice how EVERY baby in every hospital (at least in the US) gets that same blanket?
(UPDATE x2 - Man, if I'd known this was going to make the rec list, I'd at least have thrown a "BREAKING" somewhere in the title. Should have diaried yesterday - "BREAKING - Mrs. Ipsos' water". I think I need some sleep now...)
(UPDATE x3 - Wow! Thanks to everyone for all your good wishes and suggestions and thoughts. We're still hashing it out, but I can safely say the kid won't be "Elvis," "Ethelred the Unready" or "E.T." Mrs. Ipsos and I have been getting lots of giggles and a wonderful sense of community as we've been reading on and off all day. This really is an awesome community...hugs and love to all of you.
The baby's doing fine, and will probably be out of NICU in the morning. We're not quite ready to announce the name, and I'm just plain zonked and ready to try to get some sleep...so I'll probably put a new diary up in the morning with the name and some more pics.)
