Jane Fonda stared in a film about a phenomena which pitted people who were destitute, in Marathon Dance Contests. It was a noir film, filled with angst, and the grinding demands on people who had to remain on their feet, hour after hour, while the music played on. It was a pathos driven examination of people who could not, for their own reasons, quit.
Some would collapse. Some would sleep, propped on their partner, for hours, taking turns to grab a few winks, as the music inexorably drove them to try for the ever elusive prize.
That prize was usually a few hundred dollars and a cheap trophy.
Poor Keith Olbermann is having an "episode" as he tries to explain to his own satisfaction, the increasingly elusive logic, and mind numbing spin, of Terry McAuliff and Hillary Clinton, as they dance on to music only they can hear.
There they are, leaning on each other, performing their dance steps in a mindless pursuit of that prize they can not possibly survive long enough to win.
Her self-congratulatory speech made as much sense as any exhausted marathon dancer - demanding the right to go on dancing, while begging for a few sips of the water of money to keep her on her feet.
Would someone please step in and save both Hillary, and the Democratic Party from this pathetic spectacle? When it's over, it's over. Put her out of her misery. Please.
Time long past time for the remaining Super Delegates to step in and put an end to this dreadful display. If you support Obama, say so. If you're afraid of the Clintons stop them anyway. Just end it so we can get on to real election. Stop the money drain on the Party and the Obama campaign. Stop the painful display of irrational, all most BushCo like, failure to acknowledge reality.
We are, after all the Reality Based Party, are we not?

Update:
The title of this diary is also that of a famous film and novel. It does not call for violence against any candidate. It is not disparaging of any candidate.
And the fact that I have to add this to the diary is depressing beyond further comment...
