Challenge: Let' Help the Superdelegates Decide Their Votes
In the spirit of grass roots participation, to help the
Superdelegates decide for whom to vote, let's build a list of
PRO's and CON's about Barack Obama as a candidate for president.
I'll start with five of each.
PRO -- Obama gives inspirational speeches about changing the way
government runs in Washington and about how change should work
from the grass roots to the top, not the other way around.
PRO -- While in the Illinois legislature, on October 2, 2002, at
an anti-war rally in Chicago sponsored by local anti-war
organizations, Obama gave a speech against the U. S. waging a war
in Iraq. Obama stated he was not against all wars, just stupid
wars.
PRO -- In my Daily Kos diary titled "Obama: Mediator? Somewhat;
Leader? Please Tell Me Where and When", from a comment by
NeuvoLiberal linking to a Daily Kos diary by Adam B titled
"Barack Obama and the Illinois Death Penalty", Obama was very
effective in getting a law passed in Illinois relating to video
taping of entire police interrogations of suspects, not just
confessions.
PRO -- Also, in my above-mentioned diary, from a comment by
IndieinVa, Obama strongly advocates opposition to a Federal "gas
tax holiday".
PRO -- Obama sometimes gets over 90% of the African-American
vote.

CON -- About Obama's experience, he has very limited experience
in (a) foreign policy matters, (b) defense matters, and (c) other
national issues. He was an Illinois state senator for 8 years,
but he's been a U. S. senator for only two years; and he has
spent, and continues to spend, a large part of that time in
campaigning for president.
CON -- Obama was associated with the fiery Rev. Wright for over
20 years, and he was associated with him long into his
presidential campaign. Even in Obama's March 18 speech in
Philadelphia, he continued to maintain his association with Rev.
Wright. It was only recently that Obama disassociated himself
from Rev. Wright after Rev. Wright gave an interview on PBS with
Bill Moyers, gave a speech at the National Press Club, and gave a
speech before the NAACP.
CON -- When in the Illinois legislature, Obama voted "present" on
a huge number of legislative items, thereby refusing to take a
recorded stand on many issues.
CON -- Obama had some money-related transactions connected to
Tony Rezko that Obama himself called "boneheaded." Among other
money-related transactions, his present home in Chicago was
bought for $300,000 under the seller's asking price when Tony
Rezko's wife bought an adjacent lot of land for the full asking
price of the same seller.
CON -- Obama sometimes gets under 30% of the white vote.
Now, time out for me. So go for it, if you will! The
Superdelegates can use your help.
