After today's stunning 75,000 person rally in Portland, Oregon, Senator Obama has one more event in the state before blitzing Montana all day tomorrow. Curiously, I have just seen Senator Clinton's schedule for tomorrow. Me thinks the end is near......
Both Clinton's will work Kentucky hard tomorrow with Hillary continuing her campaigning in the state and Bill joining her. What is very interesting is that the final event is a rally in Louisville at 10PM with BOTH Bill and Hillary. Kentucky will most likely be her last hurrah (other than Puerto Rico) and she will certainly lose both Montana and South Dakota. So why lose two out of the last three meaningless contests and burn more money? Better to have a huge win in Kentucky, celebrate and then unite this party around Senator Obama.
Her focus on Kentucky also reflects essentially a concession of Oregon to Obama, as Clinton spent Saturday in the Bluegrass State rather than Oregon as originally scheduled. With thousands of voters having already cast ballots there earlier this month, Clinton had a limited chance to close Obama's lead in Oregon, which is around ten points according to most polls. Her husband and daughter are appearing at campaign events together in Oregon on Sunday before heading to Kentucky on Monday.
