After much delay, John McCain is finally releasing his medical records tomorrow (sort of).
On Friday, the campaign will allow a small pool of reporters access to the records from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Pacific time in a conference room at the Copper Wind Resort in Phoenix, near the Mayo Clinic Scottsdale. The reporters will be allowed to take notes but not remove or photocopy the records. Campaign officials said they were imposing the restrictions to prevent the actual records from wide dissemination
umm. is it just me or does this smell? NYTIMES Article on medical release
Why is this fishy?
- Release is to a small group of reporters. Reporters are not doctors and not qualified to review medical records without expert advice. One my first jobs out of law school was working for a medical malpractice firm. I learned that it is extremely difficult for lay people to translate medical records when doctors want to cover up facts. How do they do that? They use complex, medical terminology for EVERYTHING so you have to read everything carefully with a medical dictionary by your side.
- Release is on a Friday before a 3 day weekend. How many reporters are going to have their stories read and reviewed on a holiday weekend. It is the traditional bad news day dump. Also, how many reporters are going to be itching to start their holiday plans as well, knowing their weekend begins after they finish their story.
- 3 hour time release to review 400 pages of medical records. that is less than a minute a page to read complex medical records.
- Only a review of records, not a release. Nothing can be taken by reporters to really study and have medical experts review.
There will be 90 minutes of questions with is doctors, however we will have to see which Doctors show up and if their statements will be on the record.
For such a "straight talker", he sure keeps a lid on his health and financial records. Lets monitor the news and what is released. Hopefully it will raise some questions so we can get a complete release of this important information.
I don't wish McCain poor health in any way, but we do have a right to know about the state of his health- both physical and mental.
I want to know . . . What is he hiding??
