On Tuesday, George Bush is coming to Albuquerque to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for my opponent, Darren White, and for the New Mexico Republican Party. That's money that will be used to organize right wing voters to help elect John McCain and attack Democrats like Tom Udall and me.
George Bush won't be raising money for Darren White from small, grassroots donors. He'll be raising it from people paying as much as $5,000 a person – you know, the kind of people that benefit from his fiscally irresponsible tax cuts for the wealthy.
Of course, it should come as no surprise that Darren White is the first U.S. House challenger that President Bush is raising money for this cycle. After all, White served as Bush's Bernalillo County (Albuquerque-area) campaign chair in 2004 and was one of ten people chosen for the ceremonial honor of notifying the President of his official nomination at the 2004 Republican National Convention.
Darren White is a George Bush Republican through and through. He's already attacked me for taking a strong stand on FISA and calling for more and better Democrats. He took a page out of the Karl Rove and George Bush playbook and used the politics of fear to divide us.
Down the line, Darren White supports the failed policies of George Bush. He supports endless war in Iraq, he supports the President's failed economic policies and he supports big oil energy proposals. It's no wonder President Bush wants him to be in Congress so much that he's willing to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for his campaign.
Last year, the blogosphere neutralized the last political power George Bush has left when they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for my friend Darcy Burner in conjunction with George Bush's visit to her district. I hope you'll help my campaign further neutralize and isolate Mr. 28%.
