At least he is according to a survey done by Rock The Vote, with help from TouchTunes, a maker of jukeboxes. The survey was done through the jukeboxes, in bars all across America from April 28 through May 11. Though it is something of a bittersweet victory, since he did tie with "None of the above." Though that might say more about Hillary Clinton and John McCain, both of whom trailed behind the top two choices. Finally, the Democratic party has a candidate people want to get hammered with.
More from the survey below the fold.
The survey also asked bar patrons which issues mattered most, with 41% saying jobs and the economy, followed by Iraq with 21%, along with healthcare coming in at 15%. Global warming and education trailing with 12% and 11% respectively. Fortunately for us, those are the issues we win on. Though there were differences between men and women, the top issue remained the same.
The top issues for men were jobs and the economy (46.4 percent), the war in Iraq (22.7 percent), and healthcare (10.7 percent). For women, the top issues were jobs and the economy (34.4 percent), healthcare (19.7 percent), and the war in Iraq (18.8 percent).
Not really a surprise, as men, especially drunk ones, think we're indestructible.
Also of note, with 34% of the vote, the Democratic party rocks far harder than the Republican party, who garnered a mere 18%, tying with the "Independent Party." I didn't even know there was an Independent party, perhaps they just meant no party at all. Which makes sense, since if you're going to party with Republicans, you may as well just skip it and stay home, you'll have more fun (Unless you're a masochist, in which case, you'll thoroughly enjoy being around a bunch of inebriated dittoheads). These results stayed consistent across bars where different music was played as well.
When analyzed by the type of music predominately played in bars, Rock bars tended to serve more Democrats (32.6) than Republicans (19.2). Democrats also led Republicans in Country bars, 31.0 percent to 20.6 percent, and in R&B bars 51.0 percent said the Democratic Party is the party that rocks, with 13.6 percent choosing the Republicans.
Even country fans prefer us! When you've lost the country music fans, it's a sad time to be a Republican.
Another cool thing about the survey, those who took it were given the option of giving their email address, to receive voter registration information, of which 10,000 did, out of more than 72,000. Not bad numbers at all, considering the survey was directed at people who were trying to escape reality for a little while.
While some may scoff at this, it's true, Americans want a president they'd like to get drunk with. Someone they can relate to, who doesn't come across as an uptight policy wonk, an old fuddy duddy, or an authoritarian jerk. And now, with Barack Obama, we have exactly that. Cheers!
