Yesterday I noticed a piece on Raw Story ("Talk host to Obama: Preempt swift boating") http://rawstory.com/... in which GoLeft TV’s Mike Papantonio describes what he believes will be an impending swift boat attack on Barack Obama. Papantonio fears Democrats will do what we did when Kerry was ruthlessly attacked in 2004. Very little.
Naturally the guy behind the forthcoming smear campaign is none other than former U.S. Attorney and Rove minion, Tim Griffin. Griffin is no small time player in the Bush world of low life fear and smear. According to the article:
Griffin, the McCain campaign's Director of Research, brings his experience from his time as Deputy Research Director for President Bush's 2000 run. He would also serve as a legal advisor for the "Bush-Cheney 2000 Florida Recount Team" during the battle that would culminate in Bush being awarded the presidency by the Supreme Court in Bush v. Gore. Griffin would later work as aide to White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove from September 2005 to September 2006.
Later Bush appointed Griffin as the Arkansas U.S. Attorney to replace Bud Cummins. Cummins was pushed out for a reason. Rove had given Griffin a job to do. You may recall the flap over Griffin’s appointment as U.S. Attorney because he lacked sufficient prosecutorial experience.
From Consortium News see Did Rove's Protégé Puff Up Résumé?
Griffin is a typical GOP serial liar.
The 38-year-old Griffin claims on his official Web site that he prosecuted 40 criminal cases while at Ft. Campbell, where he was stationed from September 2005 to May 2006. But Army authorities say Ft. Campbell’s records show Griffin only serving as assistant trial counsel on three cases, none of which went to trial.
Rove’s go-to bitch is also an active player in the voting caging scheme in 2004 mastered minded by none other than the Godfather of bottom feeding low life, Karl Rove. This evil and criminal scheme involved the purging of thousands upon thousands of legitimate voters from the rolls prior to the 2004 election. Of course those disenfranchised were likely Democratic voters. They were minorities, the poor, soldiers, college students, homeless people and those who tend to move a lot. Notifications with "do not forward" instructions were sent to the targeted groups. If the resident had moved the notification was returned rather than forwarded to the new address. In short, the returned notifications resulted in the big purge from voting rolls.
I just love it when the GOP grand stands about how much it loves America.
The truth of the matter is, the GOP cannot handle democracy. Thus Tom Delay (architect of a gerrymandered Texas) and Karl Rove's grand plan to rig a Permanent Republican Majority in America. Tim Griffin is one of many involved in getting this fascistic mission accomplished.
Greg Palast had exposed Griffin’s role in voter caging in his book Armed Madhouse. I read this book and was initially very appalled that no one has bothered to investigate Tim Griffin. Now that I know the DOJ had become yet another political arm of the Bush Administration, I am no longer stunned by any unchecked criminal act committed by any GOP. The GOP obviously believes laws were written for everyone on the planet except for the GOP.
Journalist Greg Palast also uncovered e-mails that implicated Griffin as part of a vote caging scheme in the run-up to the 2004 election, thought to target 70,000 voters, including soldiers, students and people of color with mailing addresses in heavily Democratic districts, for disenfranchisement.
The article in Raw Story provides a link to one written in the http://baltimorechronicle.com/... on March 7, 2007 that reveals more details on Griffin’s complicity.
There was one big hoohah in Washington yesterday as House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers pulled down the pants on George Bush's firing of US Attorneys to expose a scheme to punish prosecutors who wouldn't bend to political pressure.
But the Committee missed a big one: Timothy Griffin, Karl Rove's assistant, the President's pick as US Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Griffin, according to BBC Television, was the hidden hand behind a scheme to wipe out the voting rights of 70,000 citizens prior to the 2004 election.
The U.S. media, by the way, obviously refused to cover Greg Palast’s findings and so he took the evidence to the BBC who did.
In October 2004, our investigations team at BBC Newsnight received a series of astonishing emails from Mr. Griffin, then Research Director for the Republican National Committee. He didn't mean to send them to us. They were highly confidential memos meant only for RNC honchos.
Griffin had apparently become so used to doing what he wanted whenever with no consequences whatsoever that he grew a tad sloppy. Or maybe he had simply become completely consumed by criminal arrogance. The dude screwed up.
However, Griffin made a wee mistake. Instead of sending the emails—potential evidence of a crime—to email addresses ending with the domain name "@GeorgeWBush.com" he sent them to "@GeorgeWBush.ORG"—a website run by prankster John Wooden, who owns "GeorgeWBush.org." When Wooden got the treasure trove of Rove-ian ravings, he sent them to us.
So, this is the guy in charge of the Swift Boating of Senator Barack Obama. A low life, half baked lawyer, hatchet man for Rove and criminal thug is going to swift boat Obama?
Really?
I don’t think so. We Democrats for Obama will swift boat Griffin and any GOP who try to go there. We can dig up so much dirt on those folks that it will be a cake walk to tear them apart and expose them for whom they are.
Let’s make a pledge to join together to swift boat the swift boaters, folks.
