As my diary history suggests, I'm a strong supporter of Barack and have phonebanked all year round on his behalf.
On this RFK unfortunate comment, though, I think we are all overreacting. In context, I think she was clearly referencing the "June" portion of the sentence. I think for boomers, the month of June is a tragic month that those of us born afterwards cannot connect to no matter how much we try.
I hope Barack doesn't do what she did to him after he gaffed about small towns. We all know that she would run away with relentless attacks on barack if barack had made such an unfortunate comment.
But, let's not be like the Penn/Bill Clinton/Carville/Hillary Clinton campaign.
By that, I mean let's be honest with our deep conscience here. She made an honest mistake. Her choice of examples was poor but I doubt that we can read any more into it.
This is a woman who has survived the right wing attacks on her family, come out stronger that they imagined(although ironically she learnt the wrong lessons wrt. to politics of personal destruction). After an embarrasing failure on healthcare she worked hard on children's healthcare. She has heart and cares deeply enough to try to help others.
Let's not crucify her. But let's not forget that She would not do that if the roles were reversed. I think democrats have come full circle on the Clinton brand; we like it when they make elections about us and hate it when it's all about them.
Finally, Barack and Hillary should spend this weekend with their spouses. It's getting too personal these days. They should go home and remind themselves of what is important in life. Then the gaffes will fade.
