Hello, Kossacks.
This is my first diary, so please be patient, understanding, and willing to give false praise for poor writing and bad points. I may not be a great writer, but I do promise this diary won't mention Clinton more than a dozen times, and that has to be worth something.
Anyways, my list
1.) He's beating him in the polls by 2.9%.
It's possible that someone could win by 2.9% yet lose the election thanks to our wonderful electoral system, but it's unlikely. In fact, in the entire history of our country it's only happened once (excluding the 1824 mess), and hasn't happend in well over 100 years. The person with more popular vote is simply more likely than not to win, and we're ahead.
2.) We haven't unifed yet.
Time and again, throughout our nation's history we've seen bitter primary battles. In very recent times, there's been Reagan/Bush, Bush/McCain, McCain/Romney, to name a few. Despite what's said during that fight, most of the party always unites behind their nominee come General Election time. If we've given McCain a head start, and he's still behind, what happens when we unite? We trounce.
3.) Funding
Thanks in large part to wealthy Republicans and passionate one-issue voters, we've had trouble competing with funding. As the legendary Bob Dylan once said, "The Times They Are A-Changin'". In fact, go help the times change a little bit more.
4.) A better run campaign
There are only 4 guarentees in life. Death, Taxes, the Browns won't win a Super Bowl, and that the Obama campaign knows what its doing. Bar none, this is the best run campaign of my lifetime. Who'd a thought after 9-11, we'd have a 1-term black Senator named Barack Obama in this position.
5.) Grassroots Organisation
You guys make me so pround! Thank You Markos, and thanks to everyone here.
6.) Iraq
McCain can keep trying to move to the left on the issue, but all he's going to do is piss off his base that already has their own issues with him. Anyone who is passionate about ending this War will vote for Obama.
7.) He's old - really, really old
It's not that a lot of peeps won't vote for him because of his age, but it's the problem that his age presents to him. If he tries to stump as hard as Obama, he'll embarass himself. We saw that when the cringe-worthy moment in Iraq with Lieberman happened. We've seen it numerous times since. Does anyone think his age won't cause more mistakes onward? No.
8.) Obama is a better campaigner
He's more energitic, he's more passionate, he writes and delivers better speeches, and on and on.
9.) Obama is a better debater
Some are down on his debating since he basically fought Clinton to a draw over 20 some debates. But Clinton is pretty personable and as wonky as they come when on stage debating, McCain is simply not in the same league. Plus, McCain won't get the Bush benefit of getting ovations just for completing complete sentences.
10.) Bush
Bush-McCain, McBush, Bush's 3rd term - Good Luck John!
11.) Vice President
Webb, Biden, Richardson, Edwards, etc... Our potential nominees are stronger than theirs, and that's showing up in every poll. Romney would look like a buffoon debating a guy like Biden or Webb.
12.) We'll Pick Up New States Without Losing Our States
Virginia, Iowa, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, Montana, Nevada, and the other ones that I inadvertently left out are all either already in our column, or ones we have a realistic chance of bringing over. What does McCain have? The best chance he has is New Hampshire, where he's losing according to the lastest Rasmussen poll.
13.) Voter Turnout
One thing this primary has brought us is millions of new registrations. One thing the Obama has brought us is passion. This equals turnout, and turnout equals victory. (thanks to Inventor)
14.) The Smear Fight
Kerry fell victim to it. Obama has learned from it. We've witnessed the almost instantaneous rebuttals from the Obama camp. Won't happen, not this time. (thanks to Kat68)
15.) Bob Barr
Ralph Nader, meet Bob Barr. The one poll I saw had Barr taking 22% of those who considred themselves "very conservative". (thanks to Mikeguyver)
16 - 24.) Help me out in the comments, my friends. Told ya I wasn't good at these diary things. :)
25.) He's the better candidate.
Period.
